Join Us
It’s really easy to join Lewes Library of Things Sign up online here and bring your ID* the first time you visit the Library. We may ask for ID on further visits so it’s a good idea to have it with you when you visit.
Currently we have only one membership that is FREE to all. We are now introducing two memberships which will be;
A FREE Community membership open to anyone.
A Supporter membership for you to support the Library financially if you are able to do so. The cost is flexible and any amount can be paid as long as it is more than 50p.
You will have agreed to the Lewes Library of Things ‘Terms of Borrowing’ once you have confirmed your membership.
The ethos of the Lewes Library of Things is to keep it FREE to those with a low disposable income and for those who can afford to support the service, to contribute to ensure it is sustainable for the long term. However, the current donation only system isn’t generating sufficient income to cover ongoing costs. This is why we have introduced a contributory membership. It will be for the member to decide what they can afford to pay.
Loans will remain FREE for the foreseeable future
You can also sign up in the Library rather than online. Please contact us if you would prefer to use this method.
Required documentation
One form of photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport) or two forms of non-photo ID (e.g. utility bills, council tax). Your ID must include your address. If you use your passport as photo ID we will need to see proof of address as well.
Late Fees
We will charge a late return fee of £1 per day per Thing just as a normal library does for books.
